If you’re looking for a winter experience in California’s Lake Tahoe area, visit Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows. These resorts are located on Tahoe’s North shore, in the Olympic Valley, and offer breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Olympic Valley & Alpine Meadows became one massive resort in 2012 and both areas can be skied/snowboarded with the same lift pass. Each resort has something different to offer and being able to ski from one resort to the other saves times and allows you to maximize vertical feet skied each day!

Olympic Valley
Olympic Valley is the larger of the two resorts and has a wide range of terrain for all ability levels. For newbies, Olympic Valley has welcoming instructors and convenient access. It’s not all for beginners though, Olympic Valley has challenging near vertical chutes, bowls, and steep faces. Olympic Valley is also famous for hosting the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. The base area village has a good selection of lodging, dining, shopping, cafes, and nightlife.

If you are after hidden hike-to-back bowls and old-time skiing culture, then Alpine Meadows is the place for you. Alpine offers more than a hundred trails, from beginner to expert, all with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding wilderness. The newly renovated, family-friendly lodge is easily accessible from the parking areas and nearby lifts.
