Kirkwood Resort Packages

Kirkwood Resort is located in the Sierra Mountains of South Lake Tahoe and approximately 90-minutes from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport .  The resort has a very unique location near Carson Pass, where storms approach from the north and south.  After picking-up moisture from the Pacific Ocean, precipitation funnels through a canyon up the Sierra foothills, and produces significant snowfall at the resort.  Kirkwood is known to measure their snow totals in feet, not inches!

Kirkwood has great terrain for all ability levels, from the first time novice skier to the hardcore expert powder-hound.  The resort has been a locals favorite mountain for many years and since its location is a bit more remote, it does not see the weekend crowds that some of the other resorts in the area do.

ABOUT THE RESORT

Kirkwood Resort has a 2,000 foot vertical drop and is spread out over 2,300 acres of terrain. With 86 trails and 15 lifts, there is excellent terrain for all ability level skiers and snowboarders. From butter-smooth corduroy on-piste to steep powder faces off-piste, Kirkwood delivers up a smorgasbord of fun runs for everyone!

MOUNTAIN PEAKS FOR EXPERTS

Covered Wagon

This area off Chair 4 provides ideal access to renowned backcountry terrain.

Thimble Peak
(9,805 ft/2,989 m)
This is the highest peak in the resort and identifiable by the Cirque. Steep expert runs abound and there are plenty of places to search out powder stashes.

The Sisters
(9,400 ft/2,865 m)
This peak has extreme skiing terrain that Kirkwood is well-known for and is not to be taken lightly. The Sisters area is chalk-full of chutes, cliff drops, and purely radical terrain!

Glove Rock
(9,360 ft/2,853 m)
Offers up a plethora of challenging terrain to be skied and boarded. There are steep descents, wide-open powder fields, and good hike-to-ski options for those looking for more vertical.

Martin Point
(9,249 ft/2,819 m)
This is by far one of the biggest objectives in Kirkwood, as well as the most rewarding. Here, you can ski unforgettable powder turns inbounds or head out the U.S. Forest Service gate to explore the endless backcountry.
